Arcady is an acclaimed ensemble dedicated to the mentorship of emerging artists and the performance of new Canadian music by director Ronald Beckett and other Arcady composers.
Ronald Beckett
Artistic Director
Ron is the founding director of Arcady, an organization established in order to encourage outstanding young musicians by providing them a bridge between their student and professional performing careers. Most of Arcady’s work is in two areas: period performances of early music repertoire and the works of Ronald Beckett. The ensemble offers 20 to 30 programs ranging from small ensemble to full choral-orchestral performances in Ontario each year.
Arcady’s Professional Performers
Arcady maintains a roster of approximately 150 musicians, some of which live locally and perform regularly, and others who live further afield and are called upon for certain concerts or productions. Our musicians are professional instrumentalists, soloist/mentor singers, university singers, accomplished community singers, and a youth chorus.
Emerging Artist Program
Arcady extends this opportunity to those seeking professional experience and mentorship. Candidates may include singers, instrumentalists, composers, conductors, poets, and dancers. Candidates should be under the age of 35, a senior student or recent graduate of a university or conservatory, and demonstrate potential in their field. Location is not a factor as Arcady performs in a variety of Toronto and Southwestern Ontario locations.
